Job Description

 

CLASS TITLE: School Math Coach/Interventionist 

REPORTS TO: School Principal 

EXEMPT STATUS: Exempt  

APPROVED: February 23, 2021 Order #2021-148 

 

BASIC FUNCTION: 

To provide leadership and support in consistent, high quality math instruction and student  achievement throughout the school. To this end, the Math Coach/Interventionist collaborates with the administration and the Math  Teacher Leader at the school in order to lead the math program by providing guidance and  support for Tier I, II, and III math instruction as well as teaching individual and small group math  intervention. Additionally, the Math Coach/Interventionist will work with the administration  and the Math Teacher Leader at the school to provide leadership in professional learning, data  collection and analysis, and fostering a math connection between home and school. 

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: 

· Provides high quality small group or individual math intervention within math  classrooms that makes up at least 50% of the weekly schedule 

· Provides coaching, modeling, and support in math classrooms 

· Provides data and leads data discussions, analysis, and instructional planning  · Supports implementation of assessment tools and data management system  (diagnostic, formative, summative) 

· Provides input for math curriculum and program development 

· Collaborates with teachers and administration to identify best practices for individual  and small groups of students 

· Participates in meetings and math activities with teachers, administration, the district  math team, and families to discuss math strategies, goals, student needs, and student  progress 

· Identifies and uses evidence-based, high quality instructional materials  · Attends training sessions and meetings to improve math knowledge and skills · Collaborates with administration, Math Teacher Leader, and the district math team to  

plan and/or provide math professional learning based on identified needs · Serves as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions  to improve student achievement for all students 

· Collaborates with school administration and Math Teacher Leader to order math  curriculum materials, manipulatives, and additional resources to support school wide  math instruction 

 

OTHER DUTIES: 

· Meets monthly with district math team 

· Other duties as assigned by school principal

 

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: 

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

· Ability to apply instructional strategies based on differentiated needs  · Strong organizational skills 

· Ability to collaborate well with administration, teachers, interventionists, district math  team, and parents in order to support math growth 

· Ability to collect data and plan Tier 1, Tier II, and Tier III math instruction · Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with school administration, staff,  students, and families 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this  position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions. · Person performing service in this position classification will exert 10 to 20 pounds of  force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. 

· This type of work involves sitting, walking, standing and moving. 

· Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral  information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle  and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: 

· Teaching Certification 

· At least three years of successful classroom teaching experience in math
